Laparoscopy & Thoracoscopy
Laparoscopy and Thoracoscopy are advanced minimally invasive surgical techniques used to diagnose and treat conditions inside the abdomen and chest respectively. These procedures involve making small incisions through which a high-definition camera (scope) and surgical instruments are inserted. Unlike open surgery that requires large cuts, these techniques allow surgeons to operate with less pain, reduced bleeding, smaller scars, and faster recovery. They are widely used for general surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, gynecology, urology, oncology, and thoracic (chest) conditions.
Laparoscopy is typically performed for abdominal issues such as gallstones, hernias, appendicitis, and various cancers, while thoracoscopy (also called Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery or VATS) is used for lung, pleural, and esophageal conditions.
At Vikram Hospital, our skilled surgeons utilize the latest in 3D laparoscopy, HD imaging systems, and robotic support when needed to ensure precision and safety in even the most complex surgeries. These procedures often allow patients to go home within 24–48 hours and resume normal activities much sooner than with traditional surgery.
